GPS

Wikipedia describes GPS as follows:

“The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a U.S. space-based global navigation satellite system. It provides reliable positioning, navigation, and timing services to worldwide users on a continuous basis in all weather, day and night, anywhere on or near the Earth which has an unobstructed view of four or more GPS satellites”.

Now, of course, it is not restricted for military purposes.

We all knew that of course!

More importantly – do most of us really care how it works? I suspect not!

Its probably enough for most of us that it enables us to drive from point A to point B by continuously monitoring our position and providing us with data that allows us to take the fastest, least congested route to where we are going!

GPS has dropped dramatically in price. It is now available at affordable prices for most of us. We probably have a GPS fitted in our family car. But what about when we go on holiday and hire a car at our destination?
