Opened in 1972, Granada Airport is located in the area known as "Vega del Genil" 16km west of the city of Granada and 106km south of the city of Jaen. It mostly serves national flights to Madrid and Barcelona. However, it has recently expanded with a number of international flights from low cost airlines (e.g. Ryanair).
Naturally, this airport is ideally situated to serve skiers who want to ski the pistes of Sol y Nieve. But, if you’re not a skier, it is perfect for a trip to the magnificent city of Granada – with all that it offers.
It can also be an alternative starting point for those wishing to visit the Costa Tropical, Costa Calida and, particularly, the Costa del Sol. Being located the Malaga side of Granada the trip down the motorway to the Costa del Sol is both quick and easy.
