Malaga Airport Hire Car Pick-Up
Malaga airport is actually situated just west of Malaga (between Malaga and Torremolinos) and just off the main Malaga-Cadiz highway (the A7).
Malaga airport offers all types of hire car pick up.
Suppliers bid for the “in terminal” check-in desk facilities so “in terminal” check-in availability can change without notice.
Most hire cars, however, are picked up by use of the suppliers’ shuttle bus service. This is found at the exit from the Arrivals Hall/Customs. The shuttle bus will take you to the compound where your hire car is parked – in the case of Malaga these areas are mostly “on airport”. A few minutes will suffice for you to reach your hire car and the airport exit is then well sign posted from there.
At the time of writing (Jan 2010) Malaga airport is still busy with construction of the extensions to terminals and other facilities.
The airport is undergoing major improvement works. A new terminal and larger multi storey car parks are presently being constructed and in time a new runway built to the east. At a result the access situation can sometimes be very difficult.
Parking is the greatest problem. However the ground floor of P2 ( directly opposite the main terminal T2) has been allocated for hire car use and the outside areas of P2 have been excavated. P2 is almost always full and should be avoided – EXCEPT if you have rented a hire car of course!
Private car parking with shuttle bus services are working well.
If collecting or dropping off a Malaga Airport hire car please follow the hire car company’s instruction to the letter. We recommend you allow a little extra time.
